Ladies and gentlemen...

Tue Jun 9, 2009, 10:18 AM
NASCAR is not a sport. It's a bunch of redenecks driving cars around really fast in a circle, cheered on my fat, drunken rednecks. A sport is a competition to decide who is the smartest, strongest, and/or fastest (all three sometimes) Gymnastics, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, swimming, martial arts, even just RUNNING is a sport.

Nascar is anything but. It doesn't determine intelligence or physical speed and/or talent/prowess. It's a waste of gas and intelligence. And people wonder why rednecks are so motherfucking stupid.

Want to watch something with cars? Go to a monster truck rally. It's more of a sport than NASCAR will ever be, and it's also infinitely more entertaining.

Fucking white trash hicks.

Umm... Did someone one poke you with a Nascar stick? Car racing isn't the same as other sports, it's not olympic or anything. But it is a competition of reflex and mechanical prowess... But hey the rednecks have claimed it.

Agreed. I hate Nascar with a fiery passion-- I find it boring, hate most fans, and despise that it takes over my area every year in May-- but it does have *some* merit as a sport. As from what you mentioned, it's also an endurance thing as well. Driving that fast that long is not good on the human body.

Is endurance of that such a good thing? It's basically common sense - just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Training and working out for real sports is one thing. It's good for you, it keeps you healthy, etc. It's something you can be proud of, something you deserve medals for (if that's your thing) but is driving so fast and hurting your body something to be proud of and brag about?

As far as I can recall, I've never talked about NASCAR before.

Sports in general bore me. But while I'm not a fan of any (at least physical ones) I can at least see the benefits of most sports. NASCAR is much more risky... Certainly even if you have protection, accidents are more harmful in there than they are in say, baseball or basketball.

Fucking hate NASCAR..

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

I don’t suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

If NASCAR is a sport, then high speed chases are also sports because the guys are driving really fast (fugitive and police alike) but at least these are more interesting because all the rednecks do at NASCAR is go around in circles. It's the lazy man's sport (and spectator sport)
